I came around those words while reading and they still ring in my ears. I had not heard these words used in a while, but they struck a chord somewhere down inside me . What does these words mean.
When I thought about manhood, I came up with words like Courage, Strength and Masculinity. Also Integrity…loyalty…bravery…faithfulness…sacrifice. All of these words say alot of things to me, but how do you know when all of these adjectives are worthy of describing such a person. How can one person hold himself to a high mark at all times?
The four pillars of a man’s are –
– Servant- King, to provide
– Tender Warrior, to protect
– Wise Mentor, to teach
– Faithful Friend, to connect
A king who is not a servant is merely a tyrant. A warrior who is not tender is only a brute. A mentor who is not wise is just a know-it-all. A friend who is not faithful is at best an acquaintance, or worse, a betrayer.
GOD has equipped every man with an internal gyroscope which gives his life purpose, direction, balance, and impact. Providing that this man is calibrated to the “True North” of GOD’s Word, a man may consult his internal compass for direction at anytime for any situation for any given day. Its like having your own personal assistant help you make decisions:
Does this particular situation confronting me right now require the King, the Warrior, the Mentor, or the Friend?
Does my girlfriend need the faithful Friend in me right now more than she needs the leader-King?
Does my daughter’s relationship need a bit of the Warrior in me to weigh in at this point? Or does she just need a careful conversation with the Mentor?
Which should be in the presence at this time.? What of my masculine functions needs to seize this moment for my family’s good? And which needs to take a back seat at the moment?
Balanced these features, uphold the dreams of every man , woman and child, and or family.
When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, 3 and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.”
